What are the Methods Used for Dental Bleaching?

Both in-office and at-home bleaching methods can be used for dental bleaching. Office bleaching is a method applied by the dentist in the office. It is applied under the supervision of a dentist and rapid whitening is observed in 1-3 sessions. Home bleaching is a method applied at home by the patient himself/herself. Teeth are bleached in a longer period of time by placing a bleaching agent in plaques specially prepared for the impressions taken from the patient. Bleaching agent is used for 7-15 days. In some cases, both methods are applied together.

Can teeth that have undergone root canal treatment be bleached?

Bleaching can be performed on teeth that have undergone root canal treatment and have changed tooth color. Bleaching of teeth that have lost vitality (devitalized) and have undergone root canal treatment is carried out by the dentist using bleaching agents that are placed inside the tooth. This type of bleaching can be repeated between 2-3 sessions.

Does the bleaching process damage the teeth?

Bleaching applied in the right procedure does not cause any harm to the teeth. Bleaching is not performed on pregnant women and those with peroxide allergies.

Do I feel pain when bleaching?

It is normal to have sensitivities that will not disturb patients during and after bleaching. Fluoride or other desensitizing agents are applied before and after the bleaching process to remove this sensitivity.

How long does dental bleaching last?

The effect of dental bleaching usually varies between 1-2 years. If you do not smoke heavily and have low consumption of colorful beverages such as coffee and tea, this period may be extended further. In addition, the duration can be extended if the bleaching process performed in the clinic is supported once a year by the bleaching process performed at home.
